Yaara Sumeruk is an Argentinian-South African writer, director and editor. Her films have screened at The Locarno International Film Festival and many others. Commercially, she has directed videos for Google, Penguin Books, Park Hyatt, USPS, Rado Watches, and has edited trailers for director Spike Lee, The United Nations and The Sundance Institute. She worked as story editor to screenwriter Justin Haythe (The Lone Ranger, Red Sparrow), as well as for independent documentary films. Her story consultant work on Nothing Fancy (2019) led to An Excellence in Storytelling Award at SXSW. Yaara is a MacDowell Colony Fellow, School of Making Thinking Resident, a Princeton Art grant recipient and has lectured on film at Princeton University, Brooklyn College and Cornell University.
