As mentioned via press release, we will be screening Public Figure in both JHB (Sat 15 June – sold out) and CT (Sun 16 June). This documentary investigates the psychological effects of everyday social media use while exploring how our influencers deal with the fame, money, hate and obsession that comes with it. Bonang Matheba will be present at the JHB screening and we are hoping to host her in Cape Town as well (TBC).
We are delighted to confirm that the Ster-Kinekor Encounters Youth Experience (EYE) Jury has completed their deliberations after 3 days of watching the South African festival shorts. The Awards Ceremony will take place on Sunday 16 June at Cinema Nouveau at 12pm. If you would like to attend the special screening of the shortlisted films, please do RSVP to kamva@encounters.co.za
By way of reminder, we have a number of workshops taking place at City Varsity in Cape Town this weekend – the Short Film workshop, the Swiss Masterclass with Emmanuelle Antille, Sylvia Vollenhoven and Anita Khanna will be presenting the Impact Workshop – Art meets Activism. Also taking place at UCT TV is the Impact Springboard pitching forum.
Check it all out and RSVP here
Best wishes
